OUR STALLIONS

On each stallion’s webpage, you will find a link to the breeding contract and instructions for payment and next steps. To secure a space in a stallion’s book, you must return a signed breeding contract and deposit and receive confirmation of receipt by Murder Hollow. We cannot hold spaces in a stallion’s book without submission of a signed contract and deposit. If you do not receive a written confirmation of receipt of your submitted contract, please call or email us. On each stallion’s webpage, you will find a link to the breeding contract and instructions for payment and next steps.
For USA breeders, fees are payable by check, ACH, Venmo (@Renee-Dubyk), credit card (3.5% surcharge), wire transfer ($50 surcharge), or PayPal (3.6% surcharge). See our payment form for detailed information.

For fresh cooled, we can ship within the USA and Canada. For frozen, we have semen available for North America. Pax Asgard af Pegasus is our only stallion that has semen available in Australia and New Zealand.
We offer multiple mare discounts for 2 or more mares that are bred within the same breeding season. We also offer a rewards program for successful offspring produced by a Murder Hollow stallion. All rewards must be used the following breeding season, only one reward or discount may be applied per breeding agreement, and documentation of the win must be presented. If you book a contract that offered an early booking discount, you cannot combine additional discounts.

Instructions on how request a semen shipment can be found here.
Each breeding dose of cooled semen distributed by Murder Hollow consists of at least 1 billion total sperm and at least 500 million progressively motile sperm per dose. Each shipment includes detailed reporting on your specific collection.
Each dose of frozen semen distributed by Murder Hollow meets the industry recommended minimum for frozen semen of at least 200 million progressively motile sperm/dose; though, most of our stallions well exceed this and individual data for each stallion is listed on the stallion’s webpage. All semen shipped meets or exceeds 30% progressively motile sperm/dose. All the stallions frozen by SBS are frozen in .5ml straws. The number of straws per dose of frozen is 8.
The Mare Breeding Passport provides Murder Hollow with written confirmation of your mare’s insemination dates, pregnancy check dates, and pregnancy status. A Breeding Passport must be returned for a Breeding Certificate to be issued for the respective foal. Click here to download a copy of the Mare Breeding Passport. This document is incredibly helpful to us as it helps track our stallion’s fertility for full reporting transparency.
Breeding Certificates are emailed to mare owners once a Mare Breeding Passport is submitted to Murder Hollow.
You will notice that we do not have a live foal guarantee listed in our breeding contract and we instead offer a per season contract when choosing the fresh semen option for North American mares. We’ve done this to help keep the breeding fees low and have found that given the incredibly high quality of the semen we offer and the fact it is collected at the top facilities in the country, we are confident that our stallions can produce pregnancies within a single breeding season. We compile very detailed fertility data and publish this data annually on each stallion’s webpage.
While we do not refund breeding fees, we are always happy to work with mare owners should you run into a problem in breeding your mare. Should a mare not end up pregnant within the breeding season, a reduced fee (50% off) breeding contract can be purchased the following season.
We are often asked about guaranteeing color or pattern – for color, you must have genetically tested your mare’s base coat color for us to help calculate the color possibilities. We generally recommend using UC Davis as they also perform the DNA parent verification on the resulting foal for registration purposes and can use an existing sample for this testing. You can find the link to UC Davis color coat testing here.
Pattern can be tricky – depending on the stallion you choose, for Pax Asgard af Pegasus, he can only genetically produce leopard offspring when bred to a solid-colored mare. The phenotype for the foal can range drastically – from nose to toes leopard to a small “blanket” in appearance. Despite the variation in phenotype – these foals are all genetically typed as leopards.
Depending on your mare’s breed and her eligibility, there are multiple avenues for the registration of offspring.
If a mare’s offspring is not eligible for Main Book or Appendix Book registration, we feel it is incredibly important for breeders to produce documentation that DNA verifies a foal’s parents as well as provides microchipping. Should a mare be ineligible to produce Main Book offspring due to her breed or inability to attend a grading (evaluation), Westfalen NA, is able to issue a HID (Horse Identification Document). HID passports are NOT Breed Book passports but instead, are intended to provide microchip information and DNA parent verification for horses. HIDs are in the format of a Passport and will pass as age verification for USEF but have no heritage listed as to not confuse people into thinking the HID is a Breed Book document. HIDs can be later upgraded to Breed Book passports should the mare attend a grading or otherwise become eligible into the breed registry. Westfalen offers this only in mail in format (cannot be submitted online) – the application can be found here.
For mares eligible to produce either Main Book or Appendix Book offspring with the Knabstrupper mother book, Knabstrupperforeningen for Danmark (KNN), we have created a somewhat comprehensive document that explains the process and who you need to contact once your foal is born. You can find this document here. Our stallions are all licensed and approved with Westfalen's Knabstrupper book or other Warmblood registries. For Westfalen's Knabstrupper book, the same rules apply as the KNN motherbook referenced above.
Mares with documented Friesian heritage are eligible with the Friesian Sporthorse Association.
Due to the fact KNN sends judges to the USA every other year (this was delayed in 2021 due to COVID), many people opt to have their mares graded by other European Verbands such as Westfalen as there are significantly more gradings held in various parts of North America. If your mare is not eligible to produce Main Book offspring and you want to go the route of Appendix Book instead of HID, KNN is the only authorized organization to judge these mares.
