Dark Star’s sire is Knabstrupper stallion, Pax Asgard af Pegasus. Pax is quickly becoming one of the most prolific sires of high quality Knabstrupper offspring in North America. He is proving to be a versatile and powerful horse – Pax is ridden in dressage, driven in harness, and has recently started jumping and is showing serious natural jumping talent. In 2021, Pax competed in the Get of Sire class at the world-renowned Dressage at Devon earning a Bronze with a collective mark of 77.15 points to finish behind serial winner KWPN sire Sir Sinclair and the 7-year-old Oldenburg stallion Davos CF and beating out several traditional Warmblood stallions. Pax and his offspring are paving the way to a spotty and sporty showring.

Dark Star’s dam, Virtual Star, is an American bred Holsteiner mare who competed under a junior hunter rider. Virtual Star is elegant with big shoulders and very much influenced by her dam’s Thoroughbred blood. Virtual is incredibly willing and gentle with a lovely jump but also has shown a natural talent in her dressage work. Coming Star, Virtual Star’s sire, is a Grand Prix Holsteiner stallion. Coming Star was by Cor de la Bryère, the revolutionary jumper sire that tends to give great form over jumps, especially on the mare line. Cor de la Bryère was a sensational stallion but also sired several incredibly influential sires including Caletto I, Caletto II, and Calypso I through V. Cor de la Bryère was also the sire of Corlandus, a World Cup Dressage Champion in 1989, and his sons Calypso I and Calypso II have proven useful sires of dressage horses. Virtual Star’s paternal granddam was by Fasolt, the last last purebred Holsteiner stallion in the world. Virtual Star’s dam, Eager n Crafty, is a Thoroughbred mare who also produced a Holsteiner gelding by the name of Cleverly who competed CCI3* eventing as well as in 1.30m jumping. Eager n Crafty is by Restless Native, who was a leading Thoroughbred sire in Maryland in the 1970’s. Restless Native was by Native Dancer and out of Next Move, a champion 3-year-old filly.
