Devon MHF is a stunning Hackney Horse x Arabian cross. He stands 15.3h tall and is a delightful gelding to work with.

 

Hackney Horses are considered an endangered breed and was used by many governments for crossbreeding to improve their military stock during the nineteenth century. Many European warmblood breeds can trace their origins to the hackney crosses including the Gelderlander, Dutch Warmblood, Friesian, Standardbred, and American Saddlebred. Hackney Horses are also phenomenal jumpers. At one point the breed owned the title of highest jumper with Sir Ashton in 1912 clearing 8 feet 2 inches. The breed is presently commonly used for endurance, dressage, combined driving, and coaching. These crosses produce refined movement with incredible stamina.

 

Devon has strong, fluid gaits. He’s been in training full time for the last 3 months after we purchased him back from the initial owner. He is incredibly happy hacking out and doing some flatwork but is best suited for an all-around/pleasure or endurance type home. We have full radiographs of his back, neck, and legs.
